Hi, this is Shawn Gibson, youth pastor of Voltage Youth Minisitries. I just want to share with you, what I believe to be the most imporant message I ever heard. I live in Colorado, and I am surrounded by so much beauty. The mountains are amazing, and all the wildlife is incredible. Sometimes I think about how complex the smallest little atom is, and then how totally immense our entire universe is. When I see all this, it occurs to me, that all this beauty and all this complexity is no accident. There must be a God. An amazing God that loves us very much.
Growing up, I read through the Bible. It tells us the story of how God created us and walked with us. We were the very prize of his creation. Then we sinned and rebelled against him. Because God is such a great and holy God, that sin seperated us from him. We could no longer walk and talk with God like we use to. The Bible say in Romans 3:23, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." That just means that we have all messed up, and rebelled against God in our own way.
Just like every action in life, there was a consequence for our sins. Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Not only are we seperated by God as a result of our sin, but the Bible says the punishment is death. The good news is that God chose to send his son, Jesus to earth, to die for our sins. Jesus took our place, and paid our penalty. We can now walk again with God, and live as one of his sons and daughters. We can now recieve the gift of eternal life.
To recieve this gift and the forgiveness of our sins the Bible says in Romans 10:9-11, "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile -- the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
If you would like to be reconnected with God and have your sins forgiven, all you need to do is say a simple prayer like this. "Dear God, I know I am a sinner and I need your forgiveness. I believe in Jesus, that he died on the cross for my sins, and that he rose from the dead. I want to make him Lord of my life. So I recieve you free gift of eternal life. And I dedicate the rest of my life to living for you, according to scripture. In Jesus Name, Amen.
If you just prayed that prayer, the Bible says there is a party going on in heaven, celebrating your decision. You are now a child of God, and forgiven. I encourage you to read the Bible for yourself, and find a Bible-believing church in your local community that you can attend. I would like to hear about your decision, and you can tell me by emailing me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
